From Other Suns, the multiplayer shooter from Gunfire Games, is getting a free beta weekend on the Oculus Store coming up at the end of the month.
Oculus quietly announced the news, releasing word of the open beta with no other general release dates. The game’s open beta weekend will start September 29th and go until October 1st, coming exclusively to Rift.

Looks really good, made by the same devs that made Dead and Buried too!

Uhm... I've only had a very quick play on it and bear in mind I know nothing about the game, the tutorial was okay, there is an odd graphic effect going on which made me think my rift was having tracking issues but once in the main game it's no longer there, I only played single player but assume with friends it's a bit like bridge crew with added ability to walk around and shoot stuff, it's certainly intriguing and I'll be playing more later on as I quite liked what I did play.

Initial impressions? I won't get home until 1am so unlikely her indoors is going to let me start jumping around at that time.
Promising. Graphically acceptable I'd say. Some of the scenery certainly reminded me of the more technological areas of Chronos, and the characters look like they've been lifted straight from Dead and Buried.

Only played single player, but hopefully it will really start to shine with 3 players. It'll all depend on the variety of situations and locations though. I should be free most of the weekend, so if you want to try it co-op, drop message on here or Steam and let me know when you'll be free (same goes for anyone else who wants a go).

Sounds promising. I'll hopefully be in this tomorrow (no idea timing though)

Same as above, only played single player, havnt done too much but I've enjoyed what I have done, apparently the beta only lets you jump 10 times before it ends, only done 2 myself so I can't confirm that.
I've had some bugs that I'll put down to it being in beta, walls vanishing, tracking being off and having difficulty pressing buttons when all my other games are fine, and graphical glitches and 'loss of focus' during the tutorial.
Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to really give it a good try online.

Feel free to add me on Oculus Home,

I assume you can just drop in/out of a game in progress, so when I'm on I'll leave my game set to friends only if anyone wants to drop in (Oculus: Fluke).

Might be a better way of getting a game with people on here rather than trying to organise a time etc.

I've not used my Rift for quite a while but I really fancied trying this so downloaded the beta this afternoon. Will probably have a bash sometime this evening.

Same with me recently. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy came out a while back, and I started played that along with a few bit of my backlog of games. It's certainly nice to go back to playing something with a nice sharp image with no SDE every now and again :)

Just played through the demo with my mate though, and it works well co-op. Bits of it seem a bit janky though (like the way weapons float sort of near to another avatar, but not quite) but it's decent. Will certainly pick up the full game if they don't overprice it.

I enjoyed it - basically it's FTL in VR, which is no bad thing. I couldn't get multiplayer working though - never found any other players.
The shooting felt great when I was ducking behind crates and walls to avoid shots.

The multiplayer seems a bit iffy to get going - it took a few goes before me and my mate could get into the same game (a reload and hitting refresh a few times finally sorted it). Once in-game, multiplayer seems to work fine, it's just getting it started that's the problem atm.

Played single player only so far. The combat is very bland, the AI is next to non existent, I got bored. Perhaps a duck and cover mechanic with adjustable sensitivity would help. Grenades for forcing you and the AI out of cover would add some excitement. Maybe even add some traps to avoid or disable.

Pretty much every game I have tried in VR feels like it was a first programming project. These guys need to play Robo Recall and then go back to improve this game.

Gave it a decent go late last night, and honestly I'm disappointed, combat isn't very fun, brain dead AI, the gun play feels like a step back from there previous game Dead and Buried, and isn't satisfying in the slightest, using guns in VR usually feels great, this does not. I really feel this game should have been a lot better, if they added optional watch dogs style online PvP, tightened up the gun play and added more customisation to ships and weapons, also more things to do in the ship with your friends, pool table, arcade machine, cards etc (like a scaled down rec room of sorts) the repair mechanic in the game is also boring, you aim a 'repair gun' to fix there's so many other ways they could have gone about repairing in VR, let us interact with the ship and use tools.

The premise of the game is great, but it feels like a missed opportunity to be a classic VR system seller.

Not impressed at all

I had a go yesterday and attacked a trading port after getting bored pretty quickly. Naturally I was destroyed very quickly. I liked the idea, but it needs more work.
