Help needed ASAP

I originaly had two SATA Maxtor drives set as raid 0. This was on an ASUS K8VSE Deluxe on the VIA connectors.

For speed I put a Raptor on the promise connectors. Now I cant get the maxtors to format.

Help, I belive I have tried everything, MAXBLAST 4, disk managment. Tried installing XP on the drives and no go.

HELP PLEASE

What do you want to do here? Do you want to format the drives and use them with nothing on them just now or do you want to recover what was on them?

Are the drives recognised in bios at all and are the bios settings correct? Are they recognised in the Raid 'bios'?

If they are recognised in the Raid array but it isn't working then you might need to rebuild the array.

The plan was to use the two drives just for storage/no OS.

The drives are seen by the VIA BIOS.

I have tried varios rebuilds on the Array, wanted JBOD for space.

Have tried install XP hoping this would sort the problem, but XP wont format, problem with the drives!

Any help please

I've got the same motherboard and I had a lot of problems getting a raid setup working on the VIA connectors while the promise one was enabled.

I ended up putting the Riad setup on the Promise controller and using the Via controller for the extra hard disk.

Can anyone help any further as the promise drive has Raptor and maxtor drive on the SATA.

Basicaly I want four hard drives running from this motherboard

Is it worth getting another motherboard as I believe this is the issue?

Which disks are you booting from? If your booting from the raptor you need the sata RAID drivers installed so you can manage the array. IF your booting from the array you cant format it while you booting from it.
