I have a problem with my front audio jacks, both microphone and headphone. One day, they just stopped working for some reason, but when I go to my audio playback devices, it says there is nothing plugged in even when my headphones are certainly in the jack :( Please help

what is selected in onboard devices in the bios for sound? hdaudio or ac97?

try switching from whatevers selected to the other and see if you get sound, theres no difference between them just jack sensing

I had a look in the BIOS, but couldn't find anything to do with audio. Where can I find it?

ok nvm,are you using realtek sound drivers? if you are look in there for a small yellow folder, click on it and select ac97 or disable front panel jack detection, you should get sound then

also makesure your front panel block connector for sound is fully plugged into your motherboard

I found it in my BIOS, it was under "chipset". I changed the device from "HDaudio" to "AC97" but I am still not receiving sound from the panel. I am using Realtek sound drivers but can't find the yellow folder :/ I'll make sure the block connector is fully connnected.

it will look something like this
