I need to replace the lock in our composite door, can anyone recommend one that is "good" please? I know if someone wants to be in then they can throw a brick through the window, drive a car through the front door etc

I bought these:

Easiest thing to do was whip the current cylinder out, measure it up, then find the cheapest Yale anti-snap/BS logo.

Yale 3 Star Platinum Cylinder would be the best choice:

I however fitted this a Yale Superior when I replaced one of my locks (as the Platinum wasn't in stock locally and I needed it in a hurry)

Both are regarded as fairly difficult to pick etc.

As above, just a case of removing the existing cylinder (normally 1 machine screw), and then measuring the split either side.

(Worth noting that if you need more than the 3 keys supplied, then additional keys can be quite expensive ~£45 for 3 direct from Yale, but still cheaper than the £60 Timpsons wanted to charge me for 1!)

Misleading advert, 1 star rating cylinders are only classed as anti snap when coupled with 2 star door furniture.

For the sake of a few ££ more just go for a 3 star cylinder. I have the 3 star yales, but as above, the ABS or Ultion are rated pretty well also

Be careful about the 'Yale 3 star platinum locks' - they have nubs/bumps on them so they don't fit every standard euro-lock keyway.

I bought one and it literally wouldn't go into my 10 year old composite door. Maybe the standard for key-ways changed ?

I ended up with an ABS instead, and went the whole-hog and also put on some stainless steel 2* high security door handles as well - they laugh at mole-grips being used for a snapping attack, and look nice too. Those are pretty much the best on the market at the moment, I have them on all my doors. Ultion are just as good though if you want an alternative :)
I have these on all mine after watching the lockpickinglawyer video on them.

I have the Yale lock above! The lock comes with a unique code and you can only get replacement keys if you have the code.
I had one of these locks but needed 5 keys so had 2 more cut using the code on the card, neither worked, so I tried a different place, same again neither worked, they refunded me but said they are very hard to cut keys for even with the code so changed it for a schlosser technik, comes with 5 keys

I use these as well. I have 3 locks all keyed alike.

When measuring up the replacements make sure you don't get the internal and external measurements mixed up. Sometimes they are the same but if not, some locks are not reversable. Also, if the existing locks are sticking out more than 5mm it's ok to replace it with a shorter lock.

As above - ordering them direct from Yale was cheaper than anyone offered to cut them anyway

I ordered some spares online and they worked no problems!
