Front Fog lights

I don't find the BMW drivers doing it, it tends to either fall into the 'chav' category, i.e. Saxo, Clio etc thinking its cool or the 'completely unware' category, i.e MPVs, Micras.

I don't mind these foglights. The only reason I notice them is when I think of OcUK and how you lot hate the misuse so much. They don't blind me as much as mis-aligned headlights.

Sometimes they are phenomenally annoying though. The other day I was in front of this berk with his fogs on and they were really bright. Annoyed me so much I slowed to let him pass. I tried flashing my rear fog hoping I would get it into his thick skull to turn his fogs off but to no avail.
I think it was a Citroen c5, couldn't be sure though.

. A Bus driver today had his main beam on and I had to spend several seconds with an eyesore until he passed by. It's not hard to see the blue light on the console when it's on incase it was flicked on by accident...

Busses seem to do this all the time, I can only assume there is some sort of design defect that makes it ridiculously easy to leave them on without knowing.

Front fog lights are to help you see the road in really bad visibility, ie when it's so thick you can only see 10ft in front of you. Rear fogs are to help you been seen.

Thats ******. Otherwise fog lighst wouldn't exist and you would put main beam on.

Best thing in fog is to turn your lights off and wear polarising glasses.

Cheers.

What I love are the numpties who think the extra 2 foot of light they get helps them 'see better' at 40+mph on country lanes.

All it does is help you see things which, by the time are viewably by your fogs, are so close you'll hit them in under a second.

Wow i can see the hedges better with fogs on....

Yes but now your eye has adjusted for the brighter local light such that your long range vision of the actual road is worse.... nice one.

It's so you can see the fear in the rabbits eyes.

Part of the Adaptive Headlights option:

What? BMW have only just thought of this? Nissan were doing that back in 1988, and my old 1999 Subaru Legacy had them too.

Also that's a really crap implementation, cornering lights should go in the sides of the front bumper so that you get more illumination to the side.

I find the feature really useful but mainly because when you're in the local lanes or tracks across the mountains, in pitch black, certain satnavs love to direct you down footpaths or other completely inappropriate roads, the cornering light lets you pull up at the "junction" and get a good look down the lane to see if it's passable.

I thought the fogs were used by chavs to further emphazise how much they've lowered their car by... Nothing cooler than seeing fogs in your mirror almost touching the floor
