Front Parking Sensors

I have some, they come as standard as fitted to my head.

I feel that we all should be able to judge how far forwards from the point at which the bonnet diseapears form view the front of the car is?

Having parking sensors make it easier, and can identify objects that you might have missed.

Funniest sensors on a car has to be on the micra... I mean seriously?!
Girl in work has them on a Ford Fusion, and still manages to hit things while parking it. She is forever in our body repair section getting chips and scratches touched up!

I just do it myself with my mouth, much more satisfying, especially when you trick yourself by going "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" really early, that's fun....

If you need forward parking sensors you shouldn't be driving imo, it shows a lack of awareness of the space your own car takes up

Instead of letting technology drive the car for you those people should practise parking!

There is a difference between needing something and finding it useful. I don't need front or rear parking sensors and can easily park without them, but they ARE useful, especially when you are manevouring enormous cars in small spaces.

I can honestly say that when attempting to park the Oldsmobile in a space that just wasn't designed to accomodate a car of quite that size I have never thought to myself "I know what would be useful - parking sensors". When I'm parking the land yacht, I don't need anything beeping at me to let me know just how much damage I'm about to do to the world - I know already. It's foremost in my mind. One small slip in concentration and woops! I just obliterated that guy's Peugeot. And I can think of few more distracting things than something beeping in my car's interior.

I can see why other people find them useful though. An ex-girlfriend has been driving about the same length of time that I have, and she still can't park without bumping something (be it lamp post, other car, building, tree, pensioner....). She loves parking sensors. She doesn't pay any attention to them, but she loves them.

Oh, granted, a nice little idea. Getting quite common as well, probably one of those features that will be standard on most larger cars in future.

* just looks in a mirror to find his parking sensors *

If I ever end up stuck with a car that has them in it, it'll be the first fuse pulled.

Why?

What would removing the fuse do that would be more advantageous than having parking sensors?

...I think people say things purely for effect on these forums sometimes.

The same reasons people don't want ABS, don't want to walk around on reins, don't want speed limits actively imposed on them blah blah blah.

Rules are for fools and the guidance of wise men.

If I had parking sensors they'd do my head in. I hired a 1007 and it beeped when I drove off without my seatbelt, beeped when I pulled up the handbrake whilst still moving, beeped when I opened the door when it was still moving.

I don't need, or want, something to beep at me to tell me something I already know, and if I could switch it off I would.

Not only that, but I pride myself on being a damn good parker when it's needed, and I don't want or need a computer holding my hand while I do it.

I suspect Mickey is thinking along the same lines.
