Hi,

Well i was going to get a sub, but i decided my money would be better spent on better front speakers due to the music i listen to. Well i have about £130 i suppose for the upgrade. Now what should i get? Oh my head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P5700MP (50Wx4).

I have been told its best to goto round speakers for sound quality, so i guess it will be 13cm speakers ill be using as thats the size i can get an adapter for the Focus.

depends what music you listen to? alphines/infinitys are generally more clearer and crisper and great for rock etc music... if your into bassy tunes something more like some vibe blackhexs will be fine... a decent pair can be had for about half the 130 you have quoted, however you could maybe get them rigged to a seperate amp for that money....

you can get the mondeo speaker adaptor which allows fittting of 16.5 cm speakers.

I've just spent £130 on these......great speakers for the money though better with an amp powering them.

if you need the adaptors for the speakers, give me a shout. i got send a pair which looked like they had been used, so they refunded me and left me with them. I'm going to make some out of MDF, so you can have them very very cheap if you need them. (dons, not trying to sell outside of MM, just a mention, will delete if need be)

Are you making the adaptor out of MDF so you can also mount the tweeter in the door with it so its still all hidden?

Well i dont tend to listen to rock much now as much. It is more blues, a little country (:p), well more vocal stuff now. Not much heavy stuff.

Edit - Reality Bites, just added you to MSN.

ah.....wondered who had added me! lol

I'm making the adaptor out of MDF so that you get a better response from your mids. They will sound much better with something firm to bounce against!

I've mounted my tweeters on the dashboard. I'm only keeping the car 6 months tops so couldn't be bother building something to mouth the tweets flush.

Ok i have decided. I am wanting 16cm coaxials. Which would be the best ones to go for in the budget of £50-70? Also i dont mind buying 2nd hand.

It's really worth the effort mounting some tweeters, lifts the sound up and makes such a huge diff, don't do half a job mate put the extra effort in, its not that much more time consuming to do but the differance it makes to the soundstage is huge.

Even with a coaxials that have directional tweeter? (infinity) Where could i mount all the stuff then? Wantign to keep it so my car can eb sold all stock in the future.

If there aren't any stock locations for tweeters then stick them on the dash with bluetak. Stuff the crossovers anywhere you can.. under the mats, behind the glove box, inside the dash etc.

So are they meant to be mounted at head height? I guess i could hide them behind the A-arm so people dont notice i have comp speakers so much?

Go for components. Even I managed to fit comps and I'm a retard.

Looks a neat job there!

I bought some cheap L brackets from homebase and stuck them to the dash. Only keeping the car a few months so couldn't be bothered making something to fit them properly.

What comps are they? tweets look quite big.
