Hi guy's

Bought an SSD couple of months back every thing worked fine until it came to a fresh install of windows 7 which is 100% genuine as it wos bought on Friday from Ocuk.

On installing the Os i did a quick format for a clean install, start the install procedure which resulted in the Pc shutting it self down.

So i fired up the lappy to do some research on what the problem is or could be.

The only solution i could find was to erase it with the Samsung Magician software that came with the hardware.

So i had to install a fresh copy of windows to another HDD just to install the Samsung software to secure erase the SSD, as my laptop didn't pick up the SSD.

Windows (fresh install) picked up the SSD in the Magician software, i started the procedure to erase but get some error of the drive been in a frozen state.

Its says follow the steps below to sort out the problem,
basically all it told me to do was start the erase an if its frozen remove the power cable to the SSD for a couple of seconds then put it back.

Every time i disconnected the drive i would get different errors/problems the first one resulted in the Pc restarting it self an followed by 2 BSOD.

It totally messed up all of mobo settings which was a nightmare to sort out.

Now basically i can't do a thing with the SSD, the SSD was bought roughly 2-3 months ago.
I still have the receipts from purchase as well.

Ive posted in Customer Service but i thought id also post here for any ideas, Secure Erase with the supplied software is a no no its kills my rig.

Cheers Crow

I have no experience with Samsung SSD...However I have played around a bit with my 4 drives (2 vertex 2E intel 510 and 520) in various setups and these are what I have gathered so far:

1. I never formatted (quick or slow) any of the drives. When new, Remove from the box install in system, make sure I have AHCI option in BIOS and just let windows do its thing.

2. Each of the drives have been secure erased at least 4 times not to mention firmware updates on the vertex drives...( I am an incurable tinkerer ). The trick is before secure erasing go to disk management and delete all partitions on the drive. In almost every single time I get a frozen state... It is not a fault it is a security protocol... I usually disconnect the drive completely and replug both wires ( sata and power ) and try again... If it does work I try again and usually it works on the 2nd or 3rd trial...

I used the Secure Erase via a USB stick, have you tried that method? Done it twice for fresh installs without a hitch.

The drive already had an Os on it from a previous install of W7, the key wasn't legit so i bought W7 from Ocuk thats the reason it had a quick format

Secure erase is a NO NO it BSOD my rig, the partion is already empty theres nothing there 2 erase.

When it says "your drive is in a frozen state disconnect the power for a couple of seconds then plug back in" it BSOD my rig.

Just the 2 partions are there
