Frustrating Problem

Hey Guys,

I built myself a new machine about 3 weeks ago, everything went fine except my 6GB of OCZ DDR3 memory was only recognized as 4GB.

I posted on here and people suggested :-

-> Flashing the BIOS
-> Checking Slots
-> Trying Memory 1 stick at a time

I have tried ALL of these methods and to no avail. I got so annoyed that I ordered some Kingston HyperX 6GB DDR3 2000Mhz memory which is now fitted. Its still ONLY recognized as 4GB even though the memory works itself.

My motherboard is an ASUS P6T Deluxe with an i7 920 @ stock.

Any ideas? Its horrible knowing I could have 6GB of performace in Triple channel but not being able to utilize it.
I've seen several threads regarding the board and memory problems but to me the board seems fine :S

Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

OCZ Gold?

If so I here they have had a lot of bad batches sent off, that's why a lot of people have been staying away from them....

Yeah, I've heard some sad stories about OCZ, However I've now purchased a second set of RAM that produces the same problem. (Different Make) I'm clueless but very frustrated at this point.

Is your operating system 64bit?

32 Bit supported 3GB I believe.

It's most likely a faulty mobo, although I could be wrong. Test the sticks are "Aren't working" in the other sockets where they are working.

Ram Slots:

1 2 34

Only plug 2 sticks in 1, 3. This should display as 4GB. Turn off your computer and alternate one of the sticks with the stick that isn't plugged in. Boot it up if it still says there is 4GB then the sticks should be fine...its the board.

Tried all that. I also run a 64bit OS. I don't believe its the hardware itself. I've seen several threads about the CPU being seated wrong but its never posted 6GB always 4. FML =[

where does it recognise 4gb, in the bios, or in windows, or somewhere else ?

have u tryed putting each ram chip in indivuaully and seeing if you get 2GB each time ?

also, have u tryed running memtest86, that should display the correct amount of ram and check for any errors

Windows and the BIOS say 4Gig

I've tried all mentioned and still the same problem. Fiddles with the voltages too :<

*Off Topic* I do hope you're not Alliance btw :P

Edit: Just Armoried you. You should be ashamed foul Dwarf :P

Female Dwarf Power!

I'm not sure its the Mo-bo. The ASUS forums seem to have a lot of threads on the issue. Some say reseating the CPU helps, others reinstalling. It just ****es me off
