FSX add on problem

I paid for and downloaded Captain sim 757 for FSX.
When i launch FSX in my Vista hard drive and select an aircraft variant from captain Sim 757 it shows all the call signs but in my Windows 7 hard drive it only shows the FSX default call signs.

What i mean is FSX has orbit airlines for example and the captain Sim has Speedbird among others but only the FSX default are shown.

I have got the FSX accelleration pack installed on both hard drives.

Are you sure the option to display all variants is enabled on the W7 install? It's an option on the aircraft selection dialog

I can't seem to rectify this.
I booted from the Windows 7 hard drive and uninstalled captain sim the reinstalled it.
All the aircraft variants are shown as they did before but no way of selecting anything other than the default MS call signs.

Should i be doing something when installing??

Thanks.

I have also noticed another strange thing. When i am on the Win7 hard drive and look in Programs and features within Control panel FSX is not listed and at the bottom it says i have 386mb of space used but i can see FSX listed in the Windows folder and shows it is taking up about 18gig of hard drive with the accelleration pack installed.

very odd is all this so intend to completely uninstall and any add ons from Vista and do the same in Win 7 and do a fresh install unless someone can help me out first.

I can post screenshots if it helps.

Why do you need a copy in both? Isn't it easy to manage just one?

I just had it on my Vista herd drive before.

Having completely removed FSX and any add ons in Vista and also the same in Win7 i did a fresh install on Win7 but still only the defalt MS aircraft call signs appear in the drop down menu but all the captain sim aircraft are shown.

This minor issue is doing my head in and captain sim support seems useless.

I can't understand why it shows it in Vista but not in Win7.
I will put a screenshot up when photobucket lets me log in.

Here is a screenshot

Sreenshot makes it clearer what you are trying to achieve!

Ok check ...Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\airlines.cfg to see if the airlines are listed there.

Then find the Aircraft.cfg of the aircraft you want to have the callsign (...Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes) I dont have the CS 757 so cannot tell you the exact folder name, but it should be relatively easy to figure out. Once you find the Aircraft.cfg check the entry next to "atc_airline" matches the entry exactly frorm the airlines.cfg (eg SPEED BIRD). I think the dual installation may have confused it somehow so only one of the .cfg got changed.

Note there will be "[fltsim.1]" through [fltsim.x] containing entries for each paint scheme you have installed. If there is nothing in the airlines.cfg maybe you could open it up from both the Vista install and the 7 install and copy entries across so they match.

My daughters boyfriend is going to install the captain sim add on on his win 7 computer so i will see what happens there.

He installed captain sim and all the call signs were present so the problem was in my system.

I coppied and pasted the Aircraft.cfg file to my pc and it resolved the problem so job done and a big thankyou to robmol for your help on this.

Guess i spoke too soon. Yes the call signs now appear in the aircraft selection call sign menu but ATC fails to read them out or display them in the ATC text.

For example instead of ATC saying or showing "Speed Bird 757 heavy" all i get is "757 heavy"

The default MS ones work as normal.

I have also installed some other add on aircraft and they too have the same issue so what on earth can the problem be?

Having thought on this, i had to reinstall Windows 7 on the same hard drive and just overwrote instead of formatting and i did have FSX on before the reinstall so could this be causing some kind conflict although i just had FSX installed with no add ons.
