FT03 Gaming rig...

I did, its worked out okay with some big caveats. Cant recommend this case to0 anyone.

Any particular reasons you wouldn't recommend it? I REALLY like the look and size of this case. I've read it can be a bit fiddly to get larger coolers in but I'm prepared to deal with that.

I wouldn't recommend one either, although if you HAVE to have it, go Black as the white plastic on the Silver makes it look awful.

Cooling isn't that great, it is not that easy to work in and frankly the build quality could be better. If you want compact go with something like the TJ08-E.

Thanks Speed

I was looking at the black anyway as all the pictures of the white one I've seen do look nasty due to the plastic.

That certainly gives me something to think about, I'll have to decide if I want something that I like the look of but perhaps isn't so good at the job its designed for or if I'd rather have it the other way round.

I've got the board and CPU on the way allready (Asus Gene-Z and a 2500k) but I'm not in a rush so will have a think

Cheers

Funny enough, thats the same board and CPU combo that I used when I built an FT03 system for someone.

It isn't so much the CPU cooling however, but the GPU cooling that proved to be problematic. I had two reference GTX570s in there and it was hitting 90c-ish under load. If you do go the FT03 that route, get non-reference GPUs so they have the better coolers, but even then I don't think it will be that great.

Hi Azzuri,

I agree with most of what Speed has said... however this case seems to be Marmite for most people.

I happen to love it, its fantastic, looks amazing and my temps are pretty good. After a few hours of BF3 my CPU max temp was 58 and GPU was 74. Yes there are cases that offer better cooling and it can be tricky to build in.

BUT, it looks fantastic, is quiet and takes hardly any space up on my desk. I am still over the moon with it if I'm honest, will be using it for some time yet. :)

What GPUs you got in it? GTX460s as per your sig don't run hot.

I'd warn anyone against using hot GPUs in this case, some will be fine, especially with non-reference coolers. Just bare it in mind.

In my searching I have found some comments that ideally a graphics card that has an enclosed cooler should be used, to stop hot air being vented inside the case but I'm not sure how much impact that would have on it.

I think I'm still leaning towards the FT03 at the moment, I really like the look of it and don't mind a bit of grief to get it installed for the end result. I'm thinking of getting something like a 560ti or maybe a 6950 toxic to go in it but will do some research.

Cheers for your comments so far
