My current setup is as follows:

Speedtouch Bebox ---> DDWRT WRT54G ---> LAN

Now for some reason i can only setup external FTP access via port 22 as 21 just never seems to connect.

Is this because there is some kind of ftp functionality on the speedtouch box and it only gets as far as that even though i have forwarded every port to the linksys box?

Tried telnetting the port too but nothing, as soon as you set it all to port 22 though (or any other port i imagine) it works no problem, even PASV works as i have forwarded a port range for it to use.

Slightly OT but a question regarding the BeBox - I see you're using it with another router - are you double NAT'ing? ie. the WAN side of the Linksys is a 192.168.x.x address, or can the BeBox act as a modem and pass its Internet IP onto the Linksys?

I have a Netscreen firewall so I want to be using that for my firewalling and NAT so I'm wondering if I have to buy a seperate modem or just get a /29 to work around it.

I have the bebox setup as a modem with all ports forwarded to my linksys, all firewalls and everything else turned off so its as near as dammit to a modem.

Something else is in the way because i still cant properly ftp on port 21, not PASV anyway which is very unhelpful.

Is there something else running on there?

There's quite a few things but the command you used to turn off the FTP service is very similar to whatever the command is to see what services are enabled.

...iirc, anyhow.

Why don't you just setup the BEBox in bridging mode if you are using the linksys as a firewall anyway? You'd need to setup the linksys with the public IP. Basically if you do this the bebox just acts as a modem and is transparent to the network.

I cant find a bridge template anywhere to download, do you know of one?

Or anotehr way of doing it?

I might just get a linksys am200 as ive been thinking about it for a while anyway.
