Hi Guys

So, after being let down by Filezilla as the installer from Sourceforge added malware to my computer, I need an FTP program recommendation, paid if needed.

Features desired:
- Windows 8.1 compatible.
- Ability to specify local and remote folders.
- If possible, ability to save all site settings in an exportable file.

Your recommendations please.

Thanks

Filezilla already ticks all the boxes and don't let the silly sourceforge installer put you off.

On the download page click on show additional download options and it should give you a full version without the sourceforge crapware installer. Once downloaded, host it somewhere yourself, say a dropbox public link if you need to deploy it to multiple users.

I use filezilla to manage a csgo server and have no issues with it at all.

as martin says use the other link to download it and not their recommended one

Filezilla as per the above comments to avoid malware.

And don't use FTP use SFTP ... FTP sends the login username and password in clear text and is trivial to capture.

Filezilla. Don't use sourceforge installer and it'll be fine.

I have to say for a site like sourceforge I am quite disappointed that they have gone down that route for installing programs. There's no need for it!

I downloaded CoreTemp a few weeks back from their own site, it comes it it's own installer now, no doubt with some adware. You have to click more options for the standalone download.

I'm not sure I'm going to use Filezilla yet as I'm still a bit cross about the fact that it had that installer that has put malware onto my new Surface Pro 3, it's REALLY irritating. Despite going for a full Windows reset it still manages to hijack Chrome and i have to remove it again with malwarebytes.

I think I might prefer to pay for something after this.

Have you read any of this thread? FileZilla didn't add the malware, Sourceforge did.. I work in an office full of people with FileZilla,we are all ok...

Presumably there is a need for it or it wouldn't have happened :p

Running a site serving files ain't cheap.

I think you're just going to have to chalk it down to experience and learn from your mistake.

Filezilla beats the majority of other FTP software out there, so you don't have much choice.
