Use filezilla to upload my stock photography pictures, it was free and never had a problem with it
depends on waht you need to do with it, if its occasionally uploading/download files to a site then a a web browser is free! (not saying its good, but its free though)
if its mass up/downloading, get a real ftp client: i prefer bpftp as i've used it for ages.
