FTP Speed Problem

Hi,

I've currently just set up a local FTP server on my machine through Windows.

I think I've done all the necessary things, port forwarding on 21, setting up accounts etc and can log into the server through either a Browser or an FTP client.

I'm just wondering why the speeds are extremely poor, i.e. 8.6 Kb/s on for example a photo. This is the top speed and it won't go any higher than this.

I have made sure I've turned of speed limits in FileZilla.

Does anyone know what could be causing this poor transfer speed?

Regards,
Tom.

There are a few things which could be happening;

The photo is being transferred before the speed meter has time to refresh.

Lots of small files may take longer to transfer than one big file. Depending on caching, the hard drive and number of concurrent connections.

Get one big file (50MB+) to check the sustained transfer speed.
