FTTC question

So it would be a lot of money then :P.
Tbh if you were paying for it id tell em to just run the cable straight into the house and not bother taking it to the exchange. (if thats possable).

mmmm Exchange grade broadband in your house.

Ahh I see. I was thinking it looked a bit technical for something they'd forward to an end user, that and it clearly says at the top "Please do not forward" :P

Oh well. Still bloody handy. I can get it at home but not at the offices i wanted to use it for cheap backup links to :( Booo

100% of premises in your postcode area are connected to cab #9, so it looks like you can already place your order for FTTC! :)

Wow thanks very much for that, though according to samknows my exchange isn't due to be enabled till 01/03/2012 but its nice to know. I take it it will be 18.66 times faster than what I get now?

again thanks for the info, just made me very happy :D

18.66 times the average. Which means you're probably in one of those lucky areas that is in the <2Mbit bracket at the moment. FTTC will be a godsend for you.

Count yourself lucky your area is deemed "profitable", there's a hell of a lot of places in your current position that won't be getting FTTC any time soon.

Don't I know it! I was quite surprised that we were getting it as soon as we are tbh, there are over 7200 residential properties connected to it but the reason maybe because there seem to be a lot of new build estates popping up in the area it serves.

Errm heres the thing about that
FTTC is fibre to the cab, the DSLAM is in the new big 5ft cab that needs to be put it, once the cab your house is served off has one of these (and its live :P) then you can order FTTC services

So your not going to get a VDSL line coming 0.8-5km from your local exchnage since the DSLAMS for VDSL are not in the exchange

(though yes there are ADSL lines that come direct from the exchange, it all comes down to line length, SNR and interference)

Now its not allways the case that the same streets near a cab have the same cab serving them.

Anyone else got a question about FTTC or VDSL?
