The first time we heard about a product from Nvidia called G100 was almost a year ago. This should be one of the codenames for the next generation Nvidia card, but it might not be the only one.

D8E is Geforce 9800GX2, and that is already a done deal, but after that comes a new high-end card. We know that this product is expected in the middle of this year and that Nvidia is working on it. The new codename is GT200 and we know that Dan Vivoli likes GT stuff, so we wouldn't be surprised that he came up with the name.

We can also tell you that this is one big chip, but no real surprises there.

Sorry if this is a repost, I cant find it anywere. Looks intrested so there could be G100 and GT200.

It was already pointless buying the 9800 GTX in Feb/March, seen as it is going to be just another 8 series refresh, even more so now if the real next gen is coming about 3 months after it. :)

I'm beginning to loose the plot/interest here with all these new nvidia cards supposedly emerging shortly. I read a while ago that the next gen would be coming out this month or so, now its two G92 cards stuck together, the 9800GTX was supposed to be next bestest from nividia, now its pointless getting one, its a refresh, now we've got the G100 coming out some time in the future, followed by the GT200 after that.
This is doing my head in, I can't keep up with all these cards:p:confused:
Which card will the one thats gonna be worth getting?

Yer now this all makes sense.
Is this gona be part of the 9 series?
Also whats going to be faster the 9800GX2 or the G100?

Edit: wait is the g100 the 9800GX2 and the GT200 the new flagship coming in the middle of this year.

I've gotten rid of Crysis off my system, partly because its a heap of poo, and partly because I'm waiting for this card to play it in all it's glory*

*With 2xAA instead of none most likely :/

Hopefully it'll go as i had in mind then:
New rollout of mid-end cards first based on either G92 or something very like it, finally a good midend card, that's cheaper than the GT.
Then the 8800GX2 comes out, big boost, good SLI performance, but really not that extraordinary unless price is with it, based on G92.
And then sometime they'll launch the 9800GTX, a new card with a new architecture, more shaders, more RAM and bigger bus-width.

But anyway, my guess is as good as anyones, including Fudzilla it seems.

Would be strange to just dump the 9000 series really, still hoping for a good roll out there. They should just call the dual card an 8800GX2, and produce the 9 series with a new architecture, there needs to be more RAM than what's currently on the market, that's just what Crysis has been showing.

You know that is really gonna make my head pop, I dunno if I could stand that spending all that money and 3 months after Nvidias true next gen arrives....

And worst thing is I reckon its true.... I can only dream that its fake and the 9800GTX is a new chipset/design and the GX2 is 2x of them.... cos frankly after a year thats what id expect from Nvidia.... not rubbish !

that reminds me one of the many new gx2 rumours/facts floating about that i read the other day said the new gx2 was made of two so far unseen processors, but it was the only one of the many to mention it at all .......i cant find which one it was either.

The GT200 apparently has a billion transistors and is the biggest chip ever!!!! Man I would love to see this baby in action (then wait a year for them to release an affordable midrange version)...

is this information posted anywhere else? id prefer not to beleave something from fud until others have confirmed its validity

Perhaps they are trying to make the chip cheaper. If ati's products are all gonna be low to mid range, then nvidia may take a beating unless they compete on price, so G100 may now be scaled down a bit, and be called the GT200 ? At least that's a possibility I see, so Nvidia cards are not uber expensive compared to the competition.

Maybe its ATi's turn and NV's R600 will be the GT200?

LOL, now that would be funny. Everyone saying it would takes ages for ATI to get on top or maybe crash with AMD, and now it looks to like ATI will be top dog.

I'm not saying anything to adventurous though. :)
