My dad got some Millers fuel additive for his Golf TDI and he can notice a difference. Are there any proven figures that this stuff actually works or is a waffle?

I think these things can work over time, but its not instant.
If hes just put it in and says wow its placebo.
Same as going and putting super in your car and pulling off and saying wow, it doesnt work that way.

ECU takes time for adjustment.

Works for me when I can't find a shell station. 95 + any random octane booster = no detting

EDIT - as for working for your dads bog standard deisel as an instant boost, no way!

i used some millers diesel injector cleaner in my A4 when the idle got a bit lumpy. it cured it after a few hundred miles, basically eliminated smoke too. can ran really nice on it.

this the stuff u see in tesco petrol station that u put in your fuel tank?

i was gonna put some into my fiesta 1.25 to clean the engine or what ever it does

i used to put the good petrol in my punto 1.1, i felt the powa

I got given some Redex fuel system cleaner, and ever since my engine ticks like hell til its warmed up

I added some and it gave me 50% more power, reduce emissions so much the car was cleaning the air, solved unemployment issues and promoted world peace.

when i used the good stuff cost me a fortune running my car :p

but my bro used to be in a car club and he had a bently continental for the weekend, that took the good stuff and had quite a large fuel tank.i believe 40 quid got it to just under half a tank and he had to do that 3 times in 1 weekend.

he also had an aston martin V8 vantage (the old type, scared people when it started up and breathed fire in the rain) that had 2 petrol caps, one on each side. was fun when we confused the till woman when we filled it up from both sides :D

my bro was spending 80 quid a weekend on petrol in them cars

also sorry for little hijack

Pretty sure they can help clean certain bits and there are ones that you can use continually to keep it clean... But any power gains will be marginal at best >.> along with any other effects.

Redex is the only thing I've used.

Every new motor I get I run a bottle of redex through, just for peace of mind more than anything - Can't say I've noticed much differences really. Most noticable was on my bike, Redex cleared out the carbs and made it slightly more responsive on the throttle.
