Fuel warning light

7 litres on mine, which is approx 65 miles.

This translates to fill up sometime in the next fortnight with current usage...

The light usually goes on if there's less than 5-10 litres of petrol.
So basically, it's always on in both my dads cars lol :D, as he's too cheap to fill it up more as he only uses petrol to start the cars or when his lpg runs out completely.

a lot of people will tell you that if you let your tank run low you will get all the crap in the bottom of the tank into your engine, but in reality unless you have a diesel and actually let it run dry you aint going to have a problem. ON my previous car (Renault 19) I had a digital readout with fuel remaining and as soon as it reached 1gal the fuel warning light would come on. Its the same on the Megane I have now although I now have a digital readout and a needle.

most cars nowadays have plastic fuel tanks so any crap accumulated wouldn't be enough to worry about :) (which is what i realise you were talking about DOH!)

My old 52 1.6 auto Focus had about 20-30 miles left in it when the light came on and that was town driving. My 08 1.9 TDI FR ibiza can do about 40-50 miles more in town.

Mk1 Focus' still have a ridiculous amount left when the light comes on.

I put a tenner in once with the light on and it was still on afterwards. I also did 50 miles on the yellow light but didn't want to risk going any further :D.

What mileage do you usually get? I never bested 280 miles to a tank on my Focus, though it was an auto which prob did'nt help.

Focus ST light comes on when the fuel remaining hits 50 miles, its stupidly long but I guess if you were to rag it then you would get a lot less than 50 miles

I get sod all once the light comes on my st170. The 1 and only time I have run out of fuel is in this car. The light came on and just over 20 miles later I'm on the phone asking for my mate to pick me up. And that's driving like a saint. I used to get over 40 on my old vectra. This st170 is so poor on fuel.

my old car was 2 gallons when the light came on so around 50/60 miles range, its really changeable depending on the angle of the road though!

Yeah, about a gallon as mine comes on with about 50-60 miles remaining (odd, as I don't get near that MPG).

On the Seat though, which is a fair bit older, the light means "Go straight to a petrol station. Do not deviate. Do not stop. Do not pass go, collect £200. Don't even breathe. Or i'll stop on you."

Evil car that one.

My Saab's fuel light comes on when the distance to empty reads about 50 miles, I have never ran it below reading 30 miles left, I'm sure even if it read 0 miles left there would still be some left in it.

My current mondeo does it at 50 miles, but in my old one (a mk1 :)) it indicated that you had approximately 14 seconds until it spluttered to a stop and required bleeding at the side of the road (old TD...)

My mondeo beeps when showing 50 miles left in tank. Lowest its been down to is 8 miles. In someone i know his car was showing 20 miles left when it ran out of petrol, don`t know what car it was though.

after the fuel light in my astra comes on, I can probably get away with about 25 miles or so, but the light then does start to flash when its getting dangerously low
