Fuji X PRO 1

Wow, looks amazing, when I'm rich I'l happily snap one of these up with that 35mm 1.4
The spec's are just outstanding, well done Fuji but you forgot to add a phone. ;)

Can't wait to get my hands on one plus the 18mm and 35mm lenses. As for a wider lens, I bet there'll be a M mount to XPRO1 adapter, stick a Voigtlander 15mm on there an you're set (that's if the sensor has microlenses to combat colour shift though). Apparently Leica's X1 successor will have interchangeable lenses too, should be an interesting year.

Fuji really coming into there own from 2011 on it seems! :o

I'll keep hoping it's only so long until they release a full frame old school style dSLR :)

15mm ain't wide enough either on a 1.5 crop :p It would do though at a push :p I'm sure I could make do. A reasonably fast 12mm prime would be too hard to resist.

Psh, anything wider than 21mm equiv. is just willy waving. :p

Anyway:

Love how Fuji haven't used a MASP dial (the program modes are controlled by setting the lens and shutter in certain combinations, e.g if you set the shutter to A and the lens to say, 1.4, you'll have Av).

Generally larger sensor than a normal compact along with interchangeable lenses, but a lot smaller than a DSLR.

This Fuji for instance has the same size sensor as in a crop DSLR but will be a smaller package.

Sure there are other benefits and obviously some down sides but those are the usual ones really.

I love a good Ultra Wide Angle. I had the Tokina 12-24 and now the Oly 9-18 on my GF1. I'm sure the 18mm would be wide enough to get by with, especially with 1.5x crop compared to the GF's 2x. There is always the Voigtlander 12mm (and adapter), its just a little slow. In most cases I would be using it for landscapes so speed doesn't matter too much I guess, its just nice to have the option.

Anyway, this thing should be official tonight. Really looking forward to seeing peoples first impressions. If the lenses are sharp and the AF is fast it will sell...lots.

It's funny how the old designs look better than the tacky newer ones.

The new designs are often a lot smaller, remember. Fuji might be a sweeping success with photography enthusiast at the moment but I'm sure plenty are getting turned away by the size and cost of these cameras. The X100 was fine as it was such a niche product, the X10 because a lot of photographers don't mind going outside of their main brand for a second camera. The X-Pro 1 will have to convince people away from micro 4/3s and low end DSLRS which will be a challenge, even when they look this good.

And a 14mm Prime is in the pipeline. Now to see what the AF and Image quality is like. Its a lot of money of course, assuming we get the usual poor USD to GBP conversion.

Edit: Price is yet to be confirmed officially so lets see.

The micro 4/3s market is what fuji will be aiming for and the top end of it at that which for me is there for the taking if they get the sensor right. The 4/3s system really hasn't made any significant image improvements for a few years now so I'd say now is the perfect time for Fuji to release something inovative that blows them out of the water in the image quality department.
