It’ll be £1500 on a Black Friday deal, giving the illusion of a good deal.

Buy it here for £1200.

good find at £1200 - I've not heard of e-infin before, they trusted? I'm guessing it's a grey import like Cotswold Cameras (it's a shame they've stopped Fuji).

I've been waiting for Xmas bonus and had Very's 20% off on my list.

A while ago I posted a thread about needing some advice, and it pointed me towards the Fujifilm area, for the best chance of sooc photos. So after quite a while I'm close to picking up a X-T3, which looks a good compromise over being more photo aimed than video, age and price etc.

Currently have a very old Canon 450D and 50mm 1.8. Now, I find that a bit tight in cities, I guess because of the crop, but still kept it on my camera all the time. I have been going looking at various lenses, all Fuji's, xf 23mm, xf/c 35mm, xf 10-24mm. The first two, even with the fuji crop, should be plenty wider. I'd got quite set on the 23mm, but had started wondering if that would be too wide...only in comparison to what I have of course, and actually I can save a bit of money and pickup a xc 35mm.

Then I started looking at the Chinese brands, Ttartisan 23mm 1.8 and 27mm and Viltrox 25mm 1.7.... . The 23 is about £80 currently on Ali. There's loads of people on youtube posting reviews and they look fine, even good, but they were all sent free lenses..... . Are they worth considering?

Bit of a quandary about focal length and sticking with Fuji :D Any thoughts would be much appreciated, and my wife is bored of me talking about cameras at her.

Thank you

I have a Samyang (12mm f2) for my X-T3 and it's fantastic (manual focus, but at 12mm, 95% of of subjects are at infinity)

In my experience there's no reason to discount lenses just because they're of Chinese origin, however like any country of manufacture there's a price to performance correlation.

Regarding focal lengths I like street/general photography and have 12mm f2, 23mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.4, I usually just bring one or two depending on how I feel. Occasionally I might fit the Canon 70-200 f2.8 via an adapter but its rare.

Focal length is such a personal thing that it's hard to make a reccommendation though, at least without knowing what you like to shoot.

Hadn't considered MF really, for flexibility I'd probably want to stick to AF.

Generally it's something to take on holiday, city and landscapes shots, family photos etc. Maybe 35mm is the better option for first lens in fuji world and get a 10-24 later on.

THe XS10's AF bugs me sometimes, it doesn't seem to want to "find" the eye that often even when its obvious and it has locked in the face. And when focusing on inanimate objects using the Contineous and Tracking, it can jump alll over the place.

Anyhow, went to this place I've been wanting to go for ages.

I don't have a great deal of love for the Ttartisan stuff. They are very capable lenses at very low prices but they ultimately exhibit too many drawbacks for my liking - egregious vignetting being top of the list.
The Viltrox Air series on the other hand is absolutely superb and worth every penny (and more). You could do a lot worse than the 25mm. And leading on from that, I would have no qualms recommending the 35mm f1.7 Air over Fuji's own XC 35mm.

A lot depends on the city and your style.
Personally, I would find 35mm a little too long for what I like to shoot but others find that focal length perfect.

My last 2 trips were Prague and, just last week, Copenhagen.
I took the 18mm f2 and 27mm f2.8 pancakes to Prague and I loved using them - the 18mm took around 75% of my shots so I found it ideal. I did actually also pack the 14mm f2.8 and Viltrox Air 56mm f1.7 but I had only recently purchased those so I threw them in to try them out but I think I took about a dozen shots between them.

Fast forward to Copenhagen and I took my X-E5 with 23mm pancake and it was great. I did also pack the XF 16-50mm zoom which was basically a "dual" prime for me - 16mm and 50mm for when the 23mm didn't quite cut it in either direction. Regardless, I definitely found myself shooting at the wider end of the scale.

Thanks for that info. I have in fact gone for the Viltrox 25mm, £94 with all manner or coupons on AliExpress.

Watched a few reviews and it did look a step up from the ttartisans.

Should be a nice first step into Fuji, just got to find a nice body example now.

Sounds like you have a great range of lenses!

Took my new 18mm f1.4 and X-E5 to the Sinai desert. Very happy with the results, will share some more at some point. This is straight out the camera with a Fujifilm recipe, no editing whatsoever.

I knew the X-E5 was good but the 18mm arrived just before I went and what can I say... an absolutely beast of a lens. Optically beautiful and incredibly reliable for AF.
