Hi, I have recently been given a Fujitsu Siemens lifebook B by a friend so I can do a clean install for him. The laptop itself doesnt have a CD drive so I hooked up an external and tried to change the boot order to CD first.

When in the bios I have 2 devices. Hard Disk and floppy. In the hard disk options I have the Fujitsu hard drive option and "Bootable add in cards". I assumed that was any external CD drive I add so selected that as a priority. On reboot nothing changed. The system just booted as normal with no option to "press any key to boot from CD".

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?

It has an old version of windows 2000 on it that wont boot because of a bsod error message. I just wanted to do a clean install and put XP on it.

Any help would be great

I assume it's a USB CD/DVD drive which needs to be plugged in when you turn the laptop on else the BIOS won't detect it. Not too familiar with this laptop but in other Fujitsu laptops you have use the +/- keys to add remove devices from the boot list which will be listed below the main selected boot devices. The other thing to try is hitting F12 on powerup, this would normally present a boot device list.
