Morning all,

I upgraded in Jan/Feb to a 5600X paired with a 3080 FE and went for a MSI MAG B550M Mortar motherboard and a Lian-Li Lancool 205M Micro-ATX Case.

I've had nothing but trouble with the motherboard, having to RMA it twice for different issues so have decided to get rid altogether and replace with something different.

With hindsight being a wonderful thing, I've also realised I wish I'd gone for a larger case and full ATX motherboard so am hoping for some recommendations for a full ATX motherboard (preferably with WIFI but not essential) and a larger case (a shame as the Lian-Li case is incredible quality for the price but just isn't big enough).

Not interested in RGB etc. just want something bigger with good airflow.

Budget of around £200-£250 for both case & mobo but could stretch to £300 if there is a compelling reason! Thanks guys.

Thanks mickyflinn - motherboard looks perfect and after checking out the lian-li case I ended up looking at other lian-li cases and came across the below which seems very versatile and generous on space

It's far from versatile and because of its different for the sake of different fad design has only small room for CPU coolers compared to its really big desk space foot print.
Most common CPU tower coolers simply won't fit into it.
For example Arctic Freezer 34 is 2mm too high, unless there's "undocumented" space.
Alpenfohn Brocken Eco Advanced and some Scythes are basically only tower heatsinks certainly fitting into it.

Oh dear, thanks for letting me know guys, I'm slightly bemused as I've watched a few reviews all of which highly praised this case (albeit having to remove the mesh which massively restricts airflow) and don't recall them mentioning the restriction on the CPU cooler. Somewhat ironic given it's marketed as an air cooling case :(

You have to remember that the original 011D is build for water cooling. Adding the air on the front was just an after thought IMHO.

CPU Cooling: max 155mm

it does stop you using some of the best cooler because of the hieght restriction.

For info I'm currently running a Deepcool Gammax 400 V2 CPU cooler, only a budget cooler but given I'm running the 5600X CPU at stock settings it's been fine so far.

Checking the deepcool website it appears the dimensions are exactly 155mm tall so might just get away with it

Should I speak to ocuk to try to cancel the order or just go with it given fortune favours the bold?!?

Its up to you. The lancool mesh 2 will be a better case for air cooling without having to compromise and its cheaper.

CPU Clearance: 176mm

I'd like the potential to run dual GPU's and my concern with the lancool II mesh is the bottom PCIE slot on the mobo looks like it will be awfully close to the top of the PSU shroud, this was the main reason for choosing the PC-O11 (also prefer the aesthetics but this isn't the main driver).

Hmm back to the drawing board, will have to look again

Dual GPU is and has been drifting dead on water for gaming for like half dozen years.
It always needed manual per game driver tweaking from GPU maker.
And DX12 made it responsibility of game developers to utilize multiple GPUs.
Should be easy to guess how willing they're to waste money/resources into such.

I understand, would still like the option to try out some mining on my old GPU that is sat gathering dust since being superseded by my RTX3080.

I've decided to just roll the dice so will feed back on how I get on with the case & motherboard when it turns up. Fortune favours the bold!!!

Just to update on this, new case is really nice and the CPU cooler just fits, with like a fraction of a millimetre between it and the glass side of the case.

Spectacular oversight given the case is marketed as an air cooling case but all's well that ends well so satisfied with my purchase :)

Awesome.

I think they just put the 'airflow' case out to fill a spot in the market and with little more thought than that.

What's cooler have you got? I got a Dark Rock Pro 4 and it barely fits in my Antec 900, it's great though.

Hope it all works out
