Some really great nominations all round this year. Fantastic to see 'Get Out' up for best picture and I'm really pleased that 'Bladerunner 2049' is getting recognised. I think it's a shoe in for Deakins.

Everyone's touting 'Shape of Water' and 'Three Billboards...' as the main contenders, but I think 'Phantom Thread' will take it. The academy love PTA, who doesn't!

Anyone think the academy could get all sentimental and give DDL an Oscar for his final film?

If he'd not won previously, I'd be putting all my savings on it. As it stands, probably not. He's already one what, 3 times? Likely nominated more so. It'll go to Oldman seeing as he's owed it.

Get out, we are talking about that Jordan Peele comedy, right? It was lovely, funny and all, lots of lolz but multiple Oscar nomination material? Seriously?

Shame Denis Villeneuve didn't get another nomination for best director for his work on Bladerunner 2049,although it did get 5 nominations this year. I certainly hope that Roger Deakins finally gets an Oscar for his cinematography work on the fillm - it will be his 14th Oscar nomination so far and he is yet to win.

Also pretty surprised that Get Out is nominated for best picture. It was ok but not amazing and I can't understand what earnt it it's place there....I wasn't blown away by Dunkirk, but in comparison it's more than worthy of it's spot on the list because of it's cinematography.

I really liked Get Out but damn that's a surprise.

If Roger Deakins doesn't win, I will go crazy. No contest.

I thought 'Get Out' was really good.

The scene where
The 'cop car' turns up at the end was genius. In any other horror movie when the cop turns up, it's usually a sigh of relief.
But this completely makes you understand what that means for a black person in America, having already set up the 'racist southern cop' near the start of the movie.

I'd prefer it didn't win, as some of the other movies are objectively better, but I'm glad it's nominated.
