Hi,

I've been planning on getting myself a new rig for a while now and have finally got together a bit of spare cash. I basically need a whole new system and my budget is £1000. The only thing I don't need is speakers. In view of the budget I think a 22" widescreen is the way to go unless someone can miraculously include a 24". Ideally it will be core 2 duo and have 4bg ram. I plan to use it for gaming and movies and am prepared to dabble in a bit of overclocking. I will also need a new O/S and a wireless network adaptor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

J

Hi Billy

I have a rubbish keyboard and mouse so if you think you can fit these within the budget that would be good. My demands aren't that great so something like a Razer isn't necessary!

How's this?:

I tried getting a Q6600 in there but I ended up about 50 overbudget. If you want I can cut down on some other stuff to get it in. As is this E2180 should overclock like a beast. It's a nice case, a fast HDD, and a good optical drive.

I don't know what's a decent WLAN card so I left that out with extra money to buy one.

Cheers for the fast response!

That's a quality spec. If I switch the Antec with a Lian Li Pc7 (when in stock) I should be able to get a Samsung 226BW - I've heard good things about it and presume it's better than the Hyundai. Quadcore isn't a huge deal for me so 2180 sounds fine. Is it worth getting better RAM or will the Geil be OK. I remember a few months ago quite a few people slated it for being poor quality?

The case monitor swap sounds like a good idea to me. The Geil is a great deal. I chose that instead of the 2 x 2 OCZ combo on sale for the same price becasue this should overclock much better.
