Fuming!

Sorry to hear that. There's something to be said for having paintwork you don't care about.

Cheers guys, just needed a rant to vent a bit. I always park my car selectively to try and avoid this happening. It may have happened at work during the day so im going to get the cctv footage checked. Ive polished out 95% of the scrape but you can still see a faint crease in the door panel. Id love to give the cretin who did it a piece of my mind

My uncle used to take a note of the registration numbers of the cars that were parked next to him.

Nice enough idea but still not actually of any use. The police wouldn't be interested in any report made. Your insurance company wouldn't and even if you found the name & address of the owner all they have to say is "No, wasn't me" and you're kind of stuck.

It's a fact nobody will care the same about your car as you do. Just got to park as far away from other people as possible I'm afraid.

calm down dear... :p bit harsh calling people scum , could have just been a little boy or girl climbing out of the car and accidently hit your car door without noticing :p or it could have been someone whos jeaolous ...the list is endless.... :D

Doesn't seem to matter how far away I park, when I come back there is always somebody parked right next to me.

I pulled up the other day in the "middle of nowhere" in a carpark, blow me down while I'm just getting ready to jump out of the car somebody parks right next to me, I literally couldn't open the door, unbelievable!

Exactly this. Unfortunately.

This happened to me the other day, I couldn't believe it. Now that it has happened to you too I feel much more at ease. :)

Never guaranteed to be them though. people come and go quickly. It depends how long you are parked up for mind.

could have been someone who had parked up then gone straight away because they forgot their wallet/coat/dog etc. You will never know!

I used to park at the furthest end of the car park and take up two spaces, only when there was plenty of space available. However, car park vigilantes still often tried to make a point by parking as close to the driver door as possible or putting trolleys behind the car and even going as far as to key the car.

Once, I was standing in Starbucks waiting on a panini and could see my car in plain view, within the white lines of a space. Some dillweed in a Mk3 Astra took 3 attempts to park his car as close to my drivers door as possible, even though the spaces next to him were empty. I watched him do all this then climb out his passenger side door. As I walked out I met him on his way in, said nothing, climbed in my passenger door and went on my way. I have never wanted to punch someone as much in my life.

It's part of having a nice car. Some people just assume that nice car = ******* owner who deserves a scratch or a dent. I'm glad I got rid of my Z4, it was becoming too much hassle as a daily driver as it attracted scum with a point to prove.
