Fun summer car!

i fit in a mk2 mx5 but it's by no means comfortable, with the clutch up and my foot on it i cant fit my hand between my leg and the wheel @ 6'4. Maybe everyone who is saying they are 6'4+ and fit are a lanky 6'4 instead of decently built :p On the flipside i do have huge (but pure muscle) thighs from many years of basketball :x

I'm 6'1 and just about fit my wife's MK3.5 but I know you can get replacement seats which make the bigger driver fit better.

I can fit in the mk3.5 hard top but not soft top, there is a beam on the soft top roof that touches my head :\

Another (somewhat biased) vote for MR2 mk3 (or MR2 Spyder) here! Fantastic cars, reliable and really fun to drive. Not the most powerful cars in the world (1.8l engine gives you a 0 - 60 in about 7.5 seconds), but the engine and drive layout means you end up with a proper sports car package; engine in the back with the rear wheels driving you - just like you'd expect from a Ferrari ;D

Storage space isn't great, but for a fun car you can live with that! Personally I class the MX-5 as a more tame driving experience as the engine in the front makes it a much more tame beast.

End of the day, both can be picked up dirt cheap now-a-days. Both handle great, both have enough power to be fun, and both are convertible. Just comes down to where you want your engine to be :)

Modding is accessible too; even had a 3.0l V6 put in to my old yellow one 'til I stacked it :p Back to a 1.8l now as insurance is somewhat crippling after the crash!

Owners club is at http://www.mr2roc.org if you fancy a mooch over there and ask some questions, we're a lovely bunch!

Have you lowered your seat or anything? Im 6'1 and feel I should be lower :p

no lower seat, and Im not lanky i have a bit of a belly.

The only issue I had was if I wanted to plug something into the cig lighter that poked out it would be hitting my leg/knee.

Mk2 1.8iS (If you can afford one) MX-5, torsen diff totally changes the cars character so its well worth spending the extra for a model which has one fitted.

Mine before it gets its raceover makeover :)

So Jealous! It's going to take me a year to achieve what you're doing practically over night. Still, fingers crossed I may see you at one event next season :P

Oh, and err, I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but MX5 \o/

try harder Im 6' 5" and owned a mk1 mx5 for nearly 4 years.
Soft or hard top? I was in my mate's Eunos Roadster (they are the same thing, right?) soft top, and I pitch a tent in the soft top. As well as that if it were down and I were to brake suddenly I'd probably be scalped from the windscreen frame!

cant get insurance on an RX7 :( already tried,

Love mk1 golfs, there is a panel van one on a forum I saw which was really cool with a nice engine in it
