Funny MOT comments

I find it weird how police will turn up to help TV licence goons at the door of a rowdy tennent. But won't be on hand to keep the peace for this kind of thing, which is a much more dangerous situation where they can potentially be mobbed.
Maybe they do now, that article is 30 years old.

An advisory is where a fault is seen but it's not bad enough to warrant a fail, so it's noted with the intention of it being advice to get it sorted soon. Things like the brake pads are worn, but not yet in desperate need of changing.

Grossly simplified generally things which won't be a fail now but likely will deteriorate before the next MOT where they wouldn't pass. (Though sometimes just stuff to monitor which may last indefinitely).

EDIT: Not so much the MOT tester but the garage/customer service people can be a bit annoying in this respect - they seem to just assume most people maintain their car on a shoe string and wouldn't want to spend the money and have played down things before which I'd much rather spend the money to get sorted properly and avoid potential future problems. (Though you also get the opposite where they try to rip you off for any and everything).

Well I just spent 5 mins reloading the page, checking the date - going between mobile and desktop mode as I thought it might be different and I read page 2 of this thread and find the comment has been removed! :p

for those that missed it, there were three additional comments. The first one was "The owners a nonce". I can't remember the other two, but something about the owners wife shouldn't be driving, and that she was fit "wouldn't say no".

Nothing ever leaves the internet.

I'm happy with the advisories myself... I have 3 on my car from the MOT last week but it's all stuff I can DIY a lot cheaper than having the dealership fix it... Not on a shoestring, but I don't feel the need to pay their labour rates for something I can do myself on a saturday afternoon :D
