Picture is real enough, story, I have no idea. Could just have been duff hardware that the guy wanted to make a joke with.

If its a real story though, the guy deserves to have that card installed where the sun doesn't shine.

couldnt agree more what a waste of a bl**dy good gfx card

Just because there was a thread doesn't make it real ;)

Ever heard of a wind-up?

1) Take one broken video card (overclocked too var/overvolted/overheated/dead RAM/etc)

2) Make up bull story about how some idiot "broke" said graphics card

3) Take tin snips to said broken video card and hack off half the PCIe connector

4) Post fake story on interweb to suck in gullible people ;)

I once saw a test where they 'covered' the gold trim on the bottom of the card...in order to make it run in x8 / x4 mode etc...Theoretically you could cut them off...Not sure how bus's work etc in that respect though on where they used to go.

Oops sorry, didn't realise that! I think I even retried posting the pics a second time... I thought it hadn't gone through or something, not because I wanted to persist...

English is not my first language and I'm not that sharp in recognising swearies...

*blush*
apologies!

OK, here's an example of watercooling...
