I want to transport a fairly hefty (second hand) solid wood widescreen TV cabinet from Leeds to Bristol. The seller has no packaging.

I have done a bit of Googling and come across a company called Shiply, who seem to act as an Internet middleman to fix you up with various quotes from different couriers. There are mixed reviews on the internet with regards to this service, the main problems seeming to be that the couriers aren't vetted in any way, and that regardless of whether the job gets done or not you pay Shiply a fee. If something goes wrong Shiply don't give you a straight refund, but instead give you a credit that must be used with them in 6 months (i'm unlikely to need to use this type of service again in a hurry).

Anybody have any experience/recommendations please?

Thanks in advance

I used shiply a few years back for moving house, people bid for the job and each bidder has a feedback rating like ebay. The guy we got was ok, but tried to charge us more after taking the job on as we had more stuff than he anticipated.

We refused on the basis that we agreed a price and he didn't come out beforehand to size up the job

Got it done but it was a bit baggy arsed if you know what I'm saying but that's what you get for going cheap as possible I guess
