Furthest you would travel for a job

Never been more than 30 mins away from work in the 35 years I've been working.

Same here, I see no reason to commute any further especially as in my industry (finance) the only way to get a significantly bigger salary is to work in a major city, which doesn't suit me.

Depends on your age and the job. When I was young I had a commute by car of 105 miles each way and took two hours but on bad traffic days like Fridays before a bank holiday weekend it could take up to four hours to do.

I loved driving back then and chilling for two hours in the car listening to music was fine. I did that for about 5 or 6 years but by then it was really starting to grind me down and it did badly affect my social life - I had to leave at 5am in the morning so early to bed every night.

The job was a senior position and a massive step up in bother responsibilities and salary and was a company car with travel covered so worth it for the pain of the years doing it.

If any of the circumstances had been different I wouldn’t have done it.

1h15mins each way driving time is my max generally, all of my jobs have involved 45mins to an hours drive each way. But when you could also be out of the office for a further 8 to 10 hours driving can get annoying.

recently confirmed this to myself when i took a job which doubled my salary nearly, ended up commuting 4 hours a day on good traffic had to give it up after 16months and never again (money isn't everything).

now a 15min drive oh its lovely wish someone had told me when i was younger :)
