Hey people,
My BFBC2 keeps crashing out my computer (BSOD) but the Blue Screen isn't coming up, it just freezes. I've disabled automatic restart but still nothing. In even viewer however I get 6 critical errors all under "WHEA-Logger".

When you run the game do you have any background applications running at the same time just as an OSD, maybe MSI Afterburner? Rivatuner (MSI afterburner's OSD)? anything like that which could interfere?

I found out that my BC2 kept freezing completely and audio looping very quick for about half a second then stopping just like if it were a BSOD but the picture froze still and found out that it was MSI Afterburner's OSD, Rivatuner, which caused the problem because it fiddles with punkbuster etc. which is why I renamed the RTCore.dll file for MSI afterburner and just turn all of the software off when I play BC2 and now works fine.

For my 5850, BFBC2 doesn't like too high memory clock, despite I don't have problem with other games. May be you could try putting the memory overclock back to stock speed on your 6950 and see if it would be more stable for you without freeze?

Since uninstalling MSI Afterburner I have noticed a massive increase in performance on my machine. At the moment though I haven't got enough time to fiddle around with BFBC2 but i'll have to have a go later on tonight.

Fingers crossed!

You don't actually need to uninstall MSI AB as you can simply rename 'RTCore.cfg' (in MSI AB root folder) to something like 'RTCore.cfg1' and it will not cause punkbuster to crash the game every 15 minutes.

I didn't really need it to be honest as I mainly overclock on CCC.

I would like to thank you though as it seems to have sorted out the problem whilst also giving me a great performance increase.

I was under the impression that the polling rate of afterburner could cause some slowdown as well. Going into the options and increasing the polling interval could help as well.

OK, after one game earlier on the system froze out again.

So it wasn't MSI Afterburner (although it was a lot faster than usual)

Temps seem fine @ 65*C (GPU) and 50*C (CPU)
