I have a second bedroom that I'm wanting to convert into a gaming room\Second bedroom.

I'm looking to buy a Futon. But I want a futon that is good in both positions. As a bed and a chair, Rather than sub standard futons that are uncomfortable to sit on or sleep on.

Are there any people out there that have experienced Good futons, that don't feel crap in 1 position over the other?

Cheers

I agree...Futons are not a comfy piece of furniture.

The one we had in our spare bedroom wasnt comfortable in either position, but it was the most comfortable of all the different futons we tried.

We have two futons at home that are generally used as sofas. I think the main thing to point out is that with cheap ones, a lot of use makes the mattress bit flatten out and become lumpy, thin and uncomfortable. Our first one was only cheap (the catalogue company) but the second was from the futon company and is very good. The mattress bit is much thicker and hasn't flattened out at all so far.

I'd personally get a decent sofabed. All the futon mattresses i have either owned or seen have gone out of shape after a while. I used to love them when they were all the rage but wouldn't buy one now.

I've actually had a futon sofabed for over 5 years and I have never had any comfort issues even though it's on a wooden frame (apart from getting a numb back end after sitting down for a long period of time but then that is just me) although it's starting to fall apart on me (the futon not the frame).

The closest you can get to what I've got is the tosa range that argos sells (I actually have a double (ish) futon not a single futon).

+1

a sofabed will make a more comfortable seat and a more comfortable bed.

Proper sofa that goes into a bed is your best bet. I DO NOT miss my futon, it was bloody uncomfortable!!

When I was 14 I worked for a Chinese couple in the basement of their shop building futons with an electric power drill. Good times!

I slept on a king size futon for about 5 years. Got it from *da-dun-da-der* The Futon Company. The futon had a foam core so it didn't get lumpy or thin. Very comfortable.

As long as the frame is sturdy and the futon good quality it should be fine both as a sofa and a bed.

I too bought a futon from The Futon Company and it is very comfy to sit on and sleep on.

Just make sure you don't buy one that is only an inch thick and cheaply made.

The one we got has a mattress that is about 6 inches thick and has a very solid wooden frame.

I have a futon sofa bed I slept on it for about 2 years. This is very comfortable and reliable and also the quality is too good it should be fine for both as a sofa and a bed.
