Looking at spending £10k on a car that will hopefully increase in value enough to offset the running costs

I have seemed to miss the boat with all the cars i can think of early Scooby, m3, 205 gti etc

Anyone think they know what cars are about to rise in value?

Defenders and Series I/II/IIIs especially have already gone up ~£1.5-2k in the last 6 months alone. Should be able to get a good condition one for a good bit less than £10k at the moment.

S2Ks are also currently rising in value, and again you should be able to get a very good one for a bit underbudget.

Clio Trophy 182, they are going up and up in value, mines worth £1k more in 4 years of ownership

You say early Scoobys but they're can still be very cheap, im planning on holding onto mine for a few years to see what happens! Hoping they get caught up in the jap hype train like eveyrthing else seems to be doing at the moment.

Doesn't there need to be a shortage of good quality Defenders for their to be a marked price increase. It appears there plentiful showroom condition Defenders people have bought for exactly the purpose of making a profit. Certain modification companies on Instagram have bought tens of them. I think it may be a good car for no depreciation but I don't think you'd make a quick profit.

Puma FRP.

Peugeot 106 Rallye.

Peugeot 306 Rallye.

Integra Type R DC2.

Boat's sailed a bit on 205s, but there are still some good deals out there.

I'd probably avoid anything bigger, or more complicated (i.e. E36 M3) because it'll be all too easy for the running and upkeep costs to exceed its value increase. You're going to have to hang on to it for a while, regardless.

Just a few things that popped into my mind...

People will dismiss this one due to a general dislike of the mk1 TT. But they are already holding money and starting to rise. They are relatively cheap to run: Audi TT mk1 Quattro Sport 240 (but only that specific model).

Sporty, relatively rare, rust free and pre-2006 is always a good bet (old tax band).

Or buy a pristine tax free hybrid now and store it. Ones registered after 1st April will all have to pay road tax. So in 5-10 years time a tax free car will be sought after.

Calling it first, this time next year the above car will be worth around eleventy billion pounds.

Failing that if such a thing as a rust free standard Saxo VTS exists, then that will be worth perhaps £2 in a few years time.
