Future Classic 10k

635 csi people tried to push but many thought they were super classics before there time so plenty about already.

still many about decent nick for cheap.

what you want is something rare that is popular but doesnt last or bad body wise.basically MG :D

The amount of MK1 MX5's in the classic red that are in movies and TV's now is astounding, they used one most recently in Black Mirror in a perfect dream world.

Not necessarily. :)

A lot of those will cost nigh-on £10k, if not more, these days; the ones that don't (318iS) aren't worth the money they command - i.e. £5k for a clean example.

The rest, in what you'd class 'potential investment grade', i.e. sub-100k on the clock and decent histories, will certainly be up there. Time to buy most of those was 3-5 years ago, when they were a couple of grand. Always exceptions to the rule, of course, but in general.

We had a 325i Sport in recently, 110k on the clock and very clean - went for £12k. Madness, really, but such is the way.

Tired 840is and the like just don't count. Sure, you could buy something for less and put a lot of work into it - but then it won't do you much on the return front...

Another two that just popped into my mind:

- Audi Coupe quattro
- Audi S2

Either of those in good order with sensible mileages is a great choice.

Indeed. Just because there are cars available for low amounts, it doesn't meant they will gain much value as the ship has sailed for decent examples, which is where the 'investment' money is.

Acme, OP was on about investment opportunity cars not "what old car can I get for sub £10k?" and most of your list is very much long gone as Lashout says...and he knows his stuff so you should really listen to what he says about cars. ;)

You can still get excellent examples of some of those for under £10K and they will go up in value.

OP didn't ask "What 100% mint factory fresh low mileage cars which haven't been breathed on by anyone can I get for under 10K which will go up in value" :p

A lower miler Evo 8 or 9 if you can find one. My '03 Evo 8 is worth more now than what I bought it for 3 years ago. It's standard though which is a massive bonus and only has 46k miles on the clock.

I just bought an EP3 CTR Premier too which I hope will hold value fairly well.

I reckon Fiat Coupe Turbos might become something in the future. :) (based on zero car knowledge)

If theres any still left working in 10 years time :D

Though it will probably be the Alfa GTV v6 that people eventually want as classics.

Theres one at a breakers yard near me, it has been sitting there forever. Looks solid but its going mouldy and it looks a bit sorry for itself.

I recon they would let it go for a pittance if asked.

Not your style i know, but why not purchase one that actually works?

but two MG Metro Turbos, one to keep the other going there are very few left as most were gutted by the mini enthusiast for the engines. Horrible car to drive and will rust if there is moisture within 800 miles but I guarantee the price will keep rising!

yes see them over 10,000 already seen em nice ones about 12,000-13,000 grand thing is as you said a lot of mini guys used to rip out the engines to stick in.:p

If a car wasn't very rare to begin with *but* it is costly to maintain it will get to a point where it will be comparatively expensive to keep on the road - this will be before it becomes a "classic" (if it ever does) and the point at which you need to weigh up how much you like the car. This is probably where the likes of Alfa 147 GTAs, Fiat Coupe Turbos etc were/are getting to.
