hey guys, what amd cpu would you recommend for bang per buck and lastability........just curious as need to build pc for a mate and they dont upgrade frequently

pc will mainly be used for games such as oblivion, ghost recon and future release such as crysis and cod3 i presume. thanks guys

probably around the £200-250 mark but as cheap as can really. budget is definetly not going to be stretched upto an fx chip put it like that.........

no....like i said its for a mates rig who doesnt upgrade that often so is after a cheap cpu which will last and is capable of playing latest games which is his hobby

An X2 and decent fan then overclock it.
Dual core is about the best you can do if looking to build a system that will last.

EDIT: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-152-AM) £170
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940) (FG-000-AR) £20

MORE EDIT: I have a 3800 X2 OEM clocked and stable at 2.6GHz and other's have pushed them even more.
