Conroe e6600 Core 2 Duo cpu
xp pro
Asus p5b 965 Mobo
2 gig ddr2 533 (2x1 sticks)
300 gig HDD 16mb buffer
1mb Nvidia 7950 GX2
19" vx922 Viewsonic Monitor
550w psu
including accessories (7.1 speakers, keyb, mouse software etc)

Any of u chaps see a problem or drawback with this sort of setup? Though probably better to have faster memory sticks yeah? Is the psu enough to handle the monstor of the 7950 GX2 ? Possibly i will add another one (if its worth it though as why buy another 7950GX2 in quad sli if a newer Graphics card is better?)
Also is the 975x series mobos better than the 965 series for the Conroe? Better ocing?

Trying to buy a rig something as future proof as possible. Used for gaming, video editing, general stuff etc. minimum res 1280 x 1024
(getting the above for around £1500)

its a package deal cant say who :)

(yeah itll poss work out a little cheaper to self-build)

i guess Q-tec PSUs are bad then?

What do ppl think about quad SLI then? and DUAL GPU systems feasibility in principle? Still sticking to single GPU systems or DUAL? (im not sure about it myself)

I would think ATI/Nvidia would have to reduce prices of crossfire/sli cards drastically to make it worthwhile for consumers to buy an old same 2nd card instead of for example a new single dx10 card.

btw while im here i havent noticed OCUK complete Conroe systems yet. Is it still in the testing stage?

Hi yeah i decided not to go with the retailer i was going to go with because of their after sales rep! i will take the advice about the PSU and graphics card though. Will buy these separately. (prolly 1800xt as that shld run most stuff maxed 1280x1024 comfortably)

I'll Probably buy an almost barebones system then upgrade parts of it.

thanks for the advice. :)
