Hi all
LONG TIME READER 1ST TIME POSTER.
Ive been gaming online for years now since mech2...

Im currently looking to renew my rig
i did have a 3.2 prescott-7800gt agp-2gb ram machine

and im looking at getting.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)
Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680
Samsung SpinPoint T HD501LJ 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Tagan TG800-U25 800W ATX2.0 Dual Engine Silent SLi Compliant Silent PSU

The only thing im stalling on is the graphics do i wait for the R600 or get a 8800gts or gtx???
Im going to be running it on a 32" sammy @ 1366x768 so i think a gtx will be
overkill??

Please help any advice is greatly apprectiated.
Currently playing 2142... :)

Looks good, would swap out the Tagan PSU and get the Corsair 620HX, you don't need 800w.

Would get the 8800GTX considering you want to run it on a 32inch display.

Well the GTX will obviously be the more future proofed card. There arent any proper benchmarks of R600 yet so we don't know how it will perform vs the 8800GTX. I would hold off on your upgrade til the end of may when we'll know how they perform.

If you want to be running Crysis at high settings when it comes out then you'll need the GTX, GTS will be medium-high I am assuming and right now there is no graphics card that can run it on ultra.

for the price this week special ocz sli 8500 memory is a good buy too... i just orderd some as i sold my 2gb ocz 800 ati for £100

I'm no expert but wouldn't it be better to use a proper pc monitor? like one of those new 206bw/226bw samsungs?

I tried using my 32LG lcd tv at 1368x768 and wasnt all that impressed when playing pc games.

P5N-E SLi is a good motherboard and still allows you to use SLi if you want to in the future.

I keep coming back to the Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680 the dts feature is something ive been looking for as i plug this straight into my yammy amp to give 5.1 thru mu floorstanding missions!!! :d

X-Fi Music? You can probably afford one with the money you save going with the cheaper Asus 650i board.

Is there any version that comes with the front plate? My audigy 2 has optical out on the frontplate.

I think im setteling on..

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) £89.99 (£105.74)

Just on another note is it worth it to upgrade to 4Gb?

If your using Vista then possibly. But i really dont see the need to go above 2GB unless you do some serious encoding, folding etc.
