future warhammer games

Yeah I can't believe Tyranids haven't been done yet. They've got these weird races like Tau and Necrons that I've never seen before and yet Tyranids are missing. Maybe bring in some more SM chapters like Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Ultramarines etc. To boost the variety they couple simply use all the special characters/units, would be nice to see space marines with an elite close combat unit like Death Company.

A Space Hulk remake is also long overdue. Would be cool to see it using a 3d engine, maybe a FPS/strategy hybrid.

The Necromunda universe might be quite interesting to see in a game (some kinda cyberpunk thing with RPG elements like deus ex) but there's not so much story to

Necromunda could make an ace MMO. Can't really see it working in a fully open 40K universe, myself.

Anyone else got the Blood Bowl computer game that came out ages ago :D Now that stunk.

Despite it being crap, I still love Chaos League :p

Epic would be cool. Titans and Gargants. :D
I think the spaceship one was Space Fleet. Was fairly crap though.

A good new Space Hulk game would be good too, especially with co-op mode. :D

Nah dont mean the space ship one, which as ya say was crap. It was olden day style sailing ships, with the ocrs having some mental mechanical ships.

Would be great to see the Nids properly realised in a game, I would love to see the Epic style stuff going in maybe SupCom style there are quite a few big beasties in the game.

40k has would never really fit too well as an fps in my opinion, maybe a properly thought out MMORPG or Battlefield style might work (There was a total conversion for that in 1942 that was in the works IIRC), but most of the races would be cut out, hand to hand never really works well in an fps (I know there are a few which are good but none without their quirks).

Lets hope someone has the same idea, a mod for Supreme Commander perhaps?? Now that would work rather well me thinks. SupCom probably has the right level of scale to be able to go from individual squads right up to titans nicely.

A BattleFleet Gothic game would be amazing too and am quite suprised there hasn't been one, or at least a good mod for some game yet.

Aaaaaah, that rings a few bells. I do know the one you mean, remember it being pimped a bit in White Dwarf in the mid-90s. I read a few battle reports even though I'd never actually played the game :)

MAN O' WAR.

just been on the mark of chaos forums and and it would seem there are rumours for an expansion around for that as well which would be good coz i love that game (must point out i dont do the models or such i just like the games and the idea of the warhammer universes lol) :p

Battlefleet Gothic ;)

Aha.. No. :p

Space Fleet came before Battlefleet Gothic. I'm that old. ;) I still occasionally play to the Proper 40K rules. Hardback book 'n all.

That one passed me by. I was always a 40k player.

MAN O' WAR.

Thats the one,

Man o' War would be cool also lol.

Mainly cause i like playing pirates lol. But yeah epic or man 'o war would be cool. Decent scale for some decent sized units.

A game based on EPIC,

with orc gargants an such would be mental!!

Would suit the COH engine as well.

I wanted to see more of the bigger units in DOW, but the scale wouldnt work.

Epic would be ace.

Also what was the other game with ships and such which was brought in to replace epic?

Amen to that - walking Titans and flying drop ships around would just be brilliant.

Would love a 40k MMORPG.

Waaarrggghhhh!

Simon/~Flibster

1st thing I said when I heard about the Warhammer MMORPG.
I want my terminator armour damn it!

I remember Man O' War, never really grabbed me though :p

Been really tempted since DoW came out, to buy some 40k models and start painting again, but I'm trying hard to deny my geeky past, the last time I did any painting was over 10 years ago, even then I was completly crap at it :o

Skip that and go straight for the dreadnought! :D

I'd rather not go through the whole "dying" process :p

I do love that bit in the DoW intro when the dreadnought comes stomping through the smoke and fires up his assualt cannon, 1 of those "Hell yeah!" moments :D

I would love to see every race included in the next one, i know it wouldnt really happen, as the game would be huge. I loved DoW. Although, it got a tad tedious at some points.

Quite possibly the best intro movie for a game, EVER imho :D

Pity the cut scenes were so damn disappointing :( what were they thinking! "Oh yeah let's just zoom in on some in-game footage, no one will notice... right?".

The Dark Crusade intro was a bitter let-down too; I think they set the bar too high for themselves!

There's not really that many races in 40k.

It's the sub-classes that kills.

Space Marines
Imperial Guard
Tau Empire
Eldar
Chaos
Orks
Necrons
Tyranids

But in all the sub-classes there would be thousands. 1000 chapters of Space Marines on their own. 7 Ork clanz, thousands of Imperal Guard regiments, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Eldar Harlequins.....

I'd love to see say the main 10 Space Marine chapters represented *each with their different genetics and squad makeups*, several of the Imperial Guard regiments, all the Eldar, all the Orks etc in one MMORPG or even a DoW expansion/DoW2. Somethign where you can build a LARGE army and have a big fight. :D

Image setting up a Space Marine chapter of 1000 marines/terminators/elders and sending them into 3000 orks coming the other way. :D

the problem for relic was that the intro was done by a different company called blur and the cost of the intro got out of had thats why we never got a cool intro like that for winter assault i still like the one for dc but nothing on the original :)
