Looking for a new motherboard that is going to last me a long time. I want a complete, new fairly hardcore PC rig but am a bit strapped for cash at the moment so the plan is to buy a cheaper CPU and graphics card but go for broke on a decent motherboard. Needs to be able to take Intel Quadcore and would prefer it to support the forthcoming Intel releases. Kept my last board 4 years and am guessing that will keep this one for a similar length of time so I want to make the right choice. I've always had Abit boards in the past and have found them pretty flexible and reliable. Is the Abit IX38 any good?

There is no future proof Intel mobo as Intel is moving to a new socket towards the end of 2008.

The IX38 QuadGT by all accounts is decent - probably slightly ahead of the Gigabyte X38s but the BIOS isn't as mature yet as the Asus.
