Fuzzy screen?

Hey guys, just got an awesome computer from overclockers, the ultima viper with a GTX 460, windows 7 and a 40GB ssd.

It's pretty much perfect except since this evening the screen has started going fuzzy, like everything on the screen is wiggling, it's really strange...I can't for the life of me think what's wrong with it.

Any ideas? I don't think it's the screen's fault since when it goes fuzzy I can bring up the monitor's menu which isn't fuzzy at all, bleh.

I have to restart each time it happens which is a bit annoying when I'm doing something on 3ds max or playing a game having to restart every hour. Tis annoying.

If anyone has any idea of what's going on I'd be most grateful.

Hi there,

This sounds like this is a problem with either the monitor or the cable connecting it to the graphics card. However, it could be a graphics card problem.

May I ask what monitor you are running (make/model number) and what connection type are you using to hook it up to the graphics card?

Also, do you have any other video connection cables or monitors/HDTVs that you can briefly test with?

Hey, it's a Samsung B2330H 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor.
I'm using the VGA cable that came with it, I can't test it on an HD TV until I get an HDMI cable, sorry. :)
I do hope it isn't major, tis annoying though.

Do you by any chance have a DVI cable?

Have you installed the most recent Nvidia graphics drivers?

Also, is the graphics card video output resolution set to 1920x1080?

Yeah I made sure the drivers were up to date when I got it.
Nope sorry, no DVI cable that I'm aware of. :(
Yeah the resolution on the video card is 1920x1080.

Before I went out tonight it was actually happened maybe once or twice an hour, been on the computer almost 2 hours now and yet to have a problem, think it was a one off? :)

Ah, well I would probably recommend you get a DVI cable at some point - as it is a digital connection (compared to the analogue VGA) the image tends to be a bit sharper. They are not massively expensive.

It is possible that it was a one off - were you running something specific (eg. a game or a HD movie) when it went fuzzy? I would just check that the VGA cable is solidly connected to both the graphics card and monitor and the screws are fully secured (if possible).

Edit: Also, do you have any other VGA cables to hand you can test out?

Probably will get a DVI cable then.
Twice I was playing a game, one time I was messing around in 3ds max and the other two times I was just on the internet or idling with music on.

Thanks for the help though. :)
