FV43U

I've noticed that on the OC site, it now states sold out instead of pre-order. I'm just wondering did you fulfil the pre-orders as i was so close to ordering one, but i am also thinking of going with the LG OLED, maybe OC should stock them, i hear so many people are interested in them.

Picked up one of these from here a couple of weeks back and love it in almost every way.

Can anyone who has this screen take a peek at this RTINGS test image and say what the grey text on black looks like?

There appears to be a significant pixel-below interference issue on this panel - while not the only situation where this occurs, it particularly affects grey on white or grey on black where any pixel of grey below white or black is affected. As you can imagine, text clarity at 100% scaling is affected. It is also worse higher up on the panel and almost invisible at the bottom.

I've already reported the bug to Gigabyte but they're taking an age to respond. Also running the latest firmware available on their site.

The chroma-444 text looks horrible but switching to HDR mode (Windows 10) helps a bit.
I've got 27" VA 165hz panel next to FV43U and the text looks much better.

I'm hoping Gigabyte are going to fix this via firmware update soon.

I've since found this problem to be more widespread than I thought. A thread over at Level1Techs from a couple of years back describes the exact same vertical interference issue on ASUS monitors. I'm going to assume at this point that it's a multi-generational panel issue that both the manufacturers nor OEMs have noticed. That, or they don't consider it a problem.

I've reported the issue to Gigabyte on multiple fronts now, through their "eSupport", on Reddit and on their Aorus discord. I got most feedback from the discord, with the server admin saying they were going to show employees my issue and hopefully escalate it. Nothing to report back on that yet though.

I gave them this image that I bashed together to demonstrate the problem clearly. It's an extreme example but if you view this on an FV43U at 1:1 and native res, the grey-on-black text becomes essentially completely unreadable unless it's at the very bottom of the panel. The lines part demonstrates how the bug is darkening horizontal lines quite badly, opposite effect for the white side.

Given the issue seems to be more pervasive than just this monitor I'm concerned it's a panel issue (T-CON board maybe?) that can't be fixed via firmware updates.
