fx62 on offer making me think

You can get the same performance as the fx STOCK speeds by using a lower priced chip (my opty 170 does 2.85 stable). Most CPU's however will not clock higher than an FX unless you are extremely lucky with steppings. Those who want the absolute best chances of obtaining highest speed without regard for money SHOULD buy an FX. An FX chip also has an unlocked multi which aids both in cpu and memory overclocking.

For now I'd stick with what you have then wait until we see some solid benchmarking from both AMD and intel before making up your mind.

do urself a favour m8, buy urself a opty 170 or 180 than overclock it to an fx62, the problem is am2 is not mature enough yet, anyways amd's roadmap looks like am2 is meant for entry level and quad core meant for serious dudes. I admit it looks tempting, but not worth it....
