Just found out about a hack/mod for almost all games that can get you free AA in many games without almost any fps loss.

I notice someone posted about it in gfx cards subforum but didnt get many replies so im quoting his post in here as i think it will be seen by more ppl.

Surprised this hasn't been posted anywhere, a guy has written a shader that allows you to enable FXAA in all games, it works via a DLL injection so I wouldn't use it on any cheat enabled games.

Mass Effect: NoFXAA FXAA
Mass Effect 2: NoAA FXAA
Metro 2033@Dx9: NoAA FXAA
Mafia II: NoAA FXAA
Dirt 2: NoAA FXAA
Dirt 3: NoAA FXAA
Sacred 2: NoFXAA FXAA
Arcania: NoFXAA FXAA

Works on both DX9 and DX10/11 games.

Going to give it a try with gta4 eflc shortly see how good it is. I think the mod is up to version 10 i think.

Afaik amd/ati users can use it too from what i have read.

Btw here it is on latest gta 4 (not eflc but ill try later)

With it off.

With it on.

I know the radar looks fubered but it isnt ingame infact it all looks to be working great and fps was barely impacted at all. :) Fps was with mostly high settings cept them 3 sliders which were under 30 each iirc and shadows off iirc. No vsync but d3d triple buffering i think still works when using d3doverider.

So what's the difference between this and morphological AA forced through CCC?

Very little on the games that i tried it on but you can set the amount of the FXAA with some versions of the file and have a hotkey to turn it on and of on the fly.

Finally, GTA IV like it is supposed to look, opposed to the jagged crap it usually looks like. Without the hit of supersampling...

Fantastic find! Thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to playing through GTA again without the jaggies. :D

Gonna install and test it with STALKER:Call of Pripyat. The graphics engine has a lot in common with Metro:2033 so hopefully it'll work :)

If I can leave the ingame FSAA and use this FXAA instead (assuming it works like that) I'll be able to up the other settings and still have smooth frames :D

Think you have to disable other AA methods like what is in game menus for it to work. Least i had to turn off AA in world of tanks to use fxaa. Supersampling tho might work with it im not 100% sure tho.

i dont understand why you start a new thread for this yet your first post is just a quote from the original thread?

EXPLAIN?

Well the quote is from a post in the "gfx card" section. Which did not receive many posts so I thought i would bring the info into the "pc gamer" section which is imo a better place for the info as more would read and use it here.

That suit you for an explanation?

Edit - If you had read the first few lines you would see what i have just said explained in the first post. I personally just found out about fxaa mod today, searched ocuk and came up with a topic in gfx card section which had 1-2 posts in it and since it didnt seem like it would get across to people who would use it i posted the info in here and just grabbed the other topics post to save typing it out myself mainly.

Also Arknor, go read the post i made in gfx card section in Brokens topic.
