Good stuff. Now try overclocking them.
If my CL16 @3600 can do CL14 @3800, can in theory CL16@4000 run at CL14 @4200? That might yield some very nice results

Picked up some Trident Z 3200 14-14-14-34. 32GB. Losing my RGB from this Corsair set but determined to get a 1900/3800 stable at good latency. Finally joining the Samsung B-die family.
Didn't want to drop down to 16GB in the short term. Just bought a 5950x so snagging the cheapest 32GB set of B-die with overclocking potential was on the cards. The "prettier" 32GB RGB offerings bumped up the price coupled with the 3600/3800 guaranteed at 14/16. The non-RGB 3200 at 14 seems to be a good overclocker and I'm sure will hit 1900/3800.
Goodbye Micron E-die, you served me well, but you're stuggling with 3800 and decent settings. Especially as this bin is one of the weaker Corsair sets (18-22-22-42).

Depends on how pre overclocked it is.
I get 3600 CL14 and 4200 CL16 out of a 3200 CL16 kit but at stupid volts.
Also G Skill have put out CL14 4000 Mhz now.
Yeh, guess it depends on pre overclocking and how they take voltage increases.
Can the CL14 4000 run at CL12 4200?
I expect the cl14 4000 is rather costly

I really doubt CL12 is ever going to happen at 4000+.
That kit is already going to be maxed out on voltage.

Its already at 1.55v, which is close to what I currently need for CL16 4200. Its going to have absolutely zero headroom on it that means.
More fun to get a cheap kit and stick it up to 1.55v now and see what it does.

Small bump on this topic to ask a question, F4-4000C16D-32GTRSA would be a better bin than F4-3600C14D-32GTRS?
It's 4000 CL16 (16-16-16-36) 1.4v vs 3600 CL14 (14-15-15-35) 1.45v
Goal is trying to achieve 3800 CL14.

If you are looking for a 3800C14 kit make sure to get the 3600C14 version 2. It's 14-14-14-34 also at 1.45v and not much more expensive. Add an A to the end of a SKU. e.g. F4-3600C14D-32GTZRA
Either would hit your goal but you may aswell go for the 3600C14 since it technically is better and out of the box fclk compatibility with Ryzen giving you a good baseline to tune from.

RIP my wallet though - The prices for this kit cost more than the 32GBs of 3600MHz CL18 Trident Z RGB RAM I'm using from the height of RAM prices in 2018!

It's definitely not cheap, but it's a great kit. Some updates (with better timings)
Yup, it manages 3800 14-14-14-14 at 1.44v. Lower voltage requires higher tRFC, but my aim of the profile above was simply "How low can VDIMM go at 3800 flat 14?".
tCL13 profile managed to come down to tRFC 224 as well, where it should be (multiples of 16).

Playing around with Karhu, I'd say it's a welcome alternative to TM5, although it's paid software.
Next goal is trying my hardest to get FCLK 2000 stable. Boots fine and memory even passes TM5 fine, but the HNT test on y-cruncher causes my USB ports to freak out. Y-cruncher is an excellent test for FCLK stability, probably the best if you ask me. Especially the HNT test. Will nuke your IF in seconds if it's not stable.
