wow.
im actually considering this, though 12gb might be a little of an over kill
btw, im using corsair ram in 3 slots, for the other slots can i use another make? or does it have to be corsair? if you get what im saying

As long as you keep the same timings and voltages it is normally fine, it is always recommended to keep the same brand and same part for multiple sticks. :)

DDR3 cheaper than DDR2?

Shut. Down. Everything.

Slightly more weird, 6GB of Triple channel DDR3 is now cheaper than all of OcUK's 4GB Dual channel DDR3, by almost 50% in most cases.

Either OcUK don't like dual channel setups or they're trying to quietly hint that Triple channel = 4GB Dual + 2GB spare!

I don't really mind what kit you buy and do with the spare stick, a deal is a deal.

a deal is a deal.

Very true, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't considering it anyway despite having a Dual channel machine. I might have to see if I can find anyone to team up with, buy 2 6GB packs and split it 8GB/4GB. Or 3x 4GB, that'd be even cheaper.

Otherwise it'll end up as an interesting paperweight or something.

You could still put it in, but you won't get the dual channel bonus. I can imagine 6GB in single being more effective than 4GB in dual channel.

It probably wouldn't be a huge difference, but it's something I'd have to fiddle with before being happy. It depends on RAM need anyway, there may be no point in using the extra 2GB.

Fantastic deal guys, never thought i'd live to see the day DDR3 was the same price as DDR2! It's been around for such a long time, though I guess with increased output due to the new platforms this was inevitable. Shame I'm not on the i7 bandwagon yet, but this makes it all the more tempting!

Keep up the good work!

Aw, come on! Here's me trying my hardest to resist i7 and you go and do this? How's a man supposed to tell his wife we won't be eating next week?

Must be strong..........

I decided to sell my qx9650 setup today before i'd even seen this as i will recoup more now than in a year or 2. Now i have the problem of 6gb of higher performance ram or 12gb of this, anyone know how well it clocks?. Fantastic value again ocuk, decisions decisions:)
