Hi all,

I currently have a Dell U2713 monitor mounted to my sim racing rig, and I need to get a new monitor for my desk. The PC sits between the sim rig and the desk, so I was planning to purchase a monitor such as the Viewsonic XG2703-GS for the desk and use them in duplicate/mirror mode.

Has anyone ever tried this before? Will the G-Sync monitor still work as it should with both monitors connected via DisplayPort?

Hi all,

I currently have a Dell U2711 monitor mounted to my sim racing rig, and I need to get a new monitor for my desk. The PC sits between the sim rig and the desk, so I was planning to purchase a monitor such as the Viewsonic XG2703-GS for the desk and use them in duplicate/mirror mode.

Should work perfectly for you.

I use to have the PG278Q connected via Displayport, and an old acer 1920x1200 monitor via HDMI. Never had issues with G-Sync when gaming.

I don't see why it shouldn't work well if both are on separate display port as well.

Awesome, thanks very much :) It's been quite difficult to find any info about it online.

I've a Dell non-G-Sync ISP hooked up along side the G-Sync S2716DG and generally works fine - had some minor issues while trying to do more advanced stuff but I think that is partly in relation to limitations with WDDM in Windows 7 and probably won't be an issue if you are on 10.

Cool, thanks. That's an even better confirmation :) I do use Windows 10 so it should be alright.

Man I wish I could see that S2716DG in the flesh before I pull the trigger since I can get it for £150 less than the Viewsonic.

On normal response mode overshoot isn't really an issue and still gives response times comparable or better than most other monitors. The monitor definitely has some gamma shift if that bothers you - as I mostly sit dead on don't tend to notice it too much - while you can tweak it to look superficially like an IPS darker colours lack the deep saturation of a true IPS panel and you have to accept some compromise in black crush to get the contrast and appearance similar to an IPS.

For gaming I wouldn't swap it for anything else but I'm also glad I have a decent Dell IPS sitting alongside it.

I think that pretty much sums up why I'm looking at £600 IPS displays :( After using a Dell U2713HM for so long (I mistakenly said U2711 in the OP) I just don't think I'll be 100% happy with the S2716DG or the S2417DG for day-to-day use.

Yeah I have the U2913WM which I think is basically the same monitor with a bit chopped off and stretched sideways :D and the image quality is fantastic definitely another level to the S2716DG.

I have this exact situation. Works fine. Don't worry about it.

You could also make use of "Windows Key + P" to switch between the monitors (Primary and Secondary) for this scenario. Better than having a second monitor distracting you with the same content on.
