G14 - interesting article (long)

Whilst I see the way the article is heading and that G14 has a presence, it's pretty nonsense.

For Chelsea to win the European Cup they need to start playing well in Europe, as simple as that.

Since they changed the format a couple of years back FC Porto (who aren't G14!) and Liverpool have won it, neither are a major force, infact, they were both 2 of the poorer sides in the competition. If thats anything to go by, Arsenal on current league position will win the European Cup.

Thats the daftest idea ever imo. No offence like. :p
As the league champions arnt allways the best in that league. What about when two teams are fighting it out till the last game? Surely then both teams are worthy champions?

I think its fine how it is really. :)

I understand the top 2, but the top 4? Everton were hardly the best side in the league last year. Same for Villareal in Spain.

It's all about money. They can't create another European tournament for 2-4 as that wouldn't be worth the costs, nor could they create a new European tournament thats more important than the Uefa cup.

It's all stupid, they should lose the title "Champions League" and rename it "European Champions Cup" or something.

Porto are a G14 club - there are 18 teams in it now

England: Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal
Italy: AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus
Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia
France: Marseille, Paris St Germain, Lyon
Germany: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen
Holland: Ajax, PSV Eindhoven
Portugal: Porto

The article sounds more like sour grapes from Chelseas' application to join being turned down, rather than any real conspiracy. Arsenal only got in in 2002,i think they'd managed a bit more than 1 title before getting a place ;)
