Its gimmicky, so if you are really young and like lots of whiz bang lighting and screen. Then get it.

If you are older and want a quality gaming keyboard? You get one with full mechanical cherry switches.

Well, I have to say that I do like my G15. Ok, it doesn't have the response advantages of a mechanical keyboard, but I do find the backlit keys, macro keys and the clock display to be worthwhile features.

Without my backlit keys and LCD clock display, I'd a) not be able to game after the wife's gone to bed (my only gaming time most of the time!), and b) not be able to remember to go to bed myself

Of course, the clock is the only worthwhile use for the display itself (unless you're testing gfx overclocks/fan profiles/temps) so the G19 is rather a pointless upgrade/extra expense unless, as stulid says, you like lots of lights.

Also, for anyone else not in my particular situation of having an early-to-bed wife and a PC in the bedroom/office set-up... my whole argument might be seen as rather pointless too... :)

Backlighting is important to me. I'm comig from a £6 tesco technica keyboard.
It's only real use is gaming so could you recommend a backlit mechanical at £100ish?

Cheers guys, seems it either backlit or mechanical and a light unless you want to spend loads :(

it's not a gaming k/b if it isn't gimmicky as hell

After reading all 15 pages of that thread it looks like a filco with cherry blues is going to be ordered :)

Thanks for all the info

The G510 is a much cheaper option and great. It doesn't have to be mechanical for you to own in games :P. Plus I actually find its various features useful.
