G20 - A few from yesterday

Crazy day, here's a few. Tense atmosphere at times and obviously a few flashpoints as you'll have no doubt heard about by now.

Pretty sure that the people split was this

50% police
25% protestor
25% photographer

First of the groups to arrive...

The media have noticed...

A small gathering outside the Royal Exchange

I think all the protestors should have worn these...

Banker effigy strung up outside the Bank of England..

Flashpoint...the cordon begins to strain...

...and breaks...

Love the banker effigy and the "consumers suck" ones..

I was actually working at Level3 off Goswell road until 3am this morning, and I went for a quick drive to observe the aftermath, still lots of people milling around and lots of police.

I was lucky I was where I was when the cordon broke because the police decided to move us out and to the left (through Walbrook) away from the trouble, I'd been waiting there for a couple of hours already and I think that was the only point of exit for a while.

I shot 3 rolls there yesterday as well so my stuff will be up later,

i would say most of the people there were photographers and police, there were actually very few protesters (proper ones) at all. Dissappointed in that respect.

Good set of photos which portray the mood there.

Especially like the hypoctical banners the protesters show while on these marches. Most notibly the 'Consumers Suck' cretin crunch one with the guy to the right wearing his undoubtly branded shades / prescription sunglasses from specsavers or other such high street optomitrist, likewise goes for the bearded chap wearing the coppers hat as well.

I think I'll stop there before I go off on a rant about folk causing damage to other peoples property / possessions all in the name of a 'protest' :mad:

Great stuff you have there Rob, I like the media frenzy shot and the last with the line breaking. Watching reports on the new last night there seemed to be a distinct lack of protestors indeed.

I'm off later today to have a wander around and see if anything is afoot.
